  1. Adult Pickleball Open Play

    July 16, 2019, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM @ San Marcos Activity Center Gym

    We have extended the hours for Adult Pickleball Open Play! It is now offered on Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 AM– 12:00 Noon and 9:00 – 11:30 AM on Fridays, at the San Marcos Activity Center. Pickleball is free for Activity Center members. Nonmembers will be charged the daily use rate of $3.00 for residents and $4.00 for nonresidents. Paddles and balls are available for those who do not have their own. If you would like to learn more about the sport, you are welcome to attend a session to observe and give it a try, free of charge.   2. Finding Balance

    Don’t miss this great monthly program brought to you by the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation in coordination with our new sponsor, Comfort Keepers. This monthly exercise class will have some new wrinkles and exercises, but it will still focus on balance activities to keep you safe and active. There are new exercises and activities every class meeting. The purpose of this program is to optimize safety & decrease the risk of falls in the community of retirees. This will improve confidence, improve strength & flexibility, boost your immune system and maintain/ increase mobility for ages 50+for those of all activity levels. The class will be offered on the third Tuesday of every month from 2-3 PM at the San Marcos Activity Center. Participants need to wear loose/ stretchy comfortable clothing with rubber soled shoes.   1. Movies in Your Park

    July 16, 2019, 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM @ San Marcos Plaza Park

    The San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department presents Movies in Your Park! Join us every Tuesday during June and July (with the exception of July 2) at San Marcos Plaza Park for a FREE movie under the stars. The movie will begin at sunset (approximately 8:45 PM) and pre-movie activities will be hosted one hour prior. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and come out early to claim your spot! Concessions will be available for purchase. Please note that alcohol, Styrofoam, glass and smoking is not permitted at this event. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

  1. Discovery Camp - Kids Kitchen Week

    July 15, 2019, 7:30 AM - July 19, 2019, 5:30 PM @ Dunbar Recreation Center

    Come experience an adventure this summer with the City of San Marcos Discovery Camp! The Parks and Recreation Department is offering 9 themed weeks of exploring, adventure, and discovery for campers ages 5 to 10. Campers will have the chance to be outside, do experiments, build things, get messy, work as a team, develop leadership skills, and have fun! Lunch is provided by SMCISD. One field trip to various locations, two trips to the San Marcos Discovery Center, and a trip to the Rio Vista pool each week are included in camp fees. (NO CAMP ON JULY 4th) Registration for Residents will begin on April 2nd and for Non-Residents April 23rd of 2018.

  2. Summer Fun Week 5

    July 15, 2019, 7:30 AM - July 19, 2019, 5:30 PM

    Summer Fun is an 8 week long program (with a one week break between) hosted by the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department for kids ages 7-14 (they can be 6 if they have completed the first grade). SMCISD school sites’ TBD. Camp runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Breakfast and lunch are provided by SMCISD and one field trip a week is included in camp fees. Field trips are to the Rio Vista Pool, Starplex Movie Theatre, and Sunset Bowling Lanes. Registration for residents is $32/week and begins on April 1. Registration for non-residents is $50/week and begins on April 22.
