Herbalism Club

Sunday, June 2 and every first Sunday

1:00 to 2:30 p.m.

Let’s talk about herbs! Join us for an ongoing herbalism knowledge-share with other local gardeners, foragers, and plant lovers. Feel free to bring favorite books, recipes, seeds or cuttings to swap, or just come ready to learn.

Free Dance Classes for Children

Mondays in June and July

9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Creative Dance fusing elements of various dance forms such as Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ballet, and Modern Dance. These classes will focus on the relationship of body to space and cultivate esteem toward expressing with the body. Some fun elements that will enhance the dancing curriculum are drawing, vocalizing, improvising, and using music as inspiration for “creating a dance,” also known as choreography. Multiple dance classes for ages 5-17. Limited space available. Registration required. Students should register for the grade they are entering in the fall.

9:00 a.m. - Kindergarten Class

10:00 a.m. - 1st-2nd Grade Class

11:00 a.m. - 3rd-5th Grade Class

12:00 p.m. - 6th-8th Grade Class

Estate Planning Essentials: Wills and Trusts

Monday, June 3

6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

It’s always important to have a plan. An estate plan is a map of how you want your financial and personal matters handled when you are no longer able to do so. Planning ahead gives you the ability to help ensure your loved ones are provided for and to control your legacy. Topics covered include last will and testament, trusts, powers of attorney, medical directive, insurance, guardianship, and taxes. Presented by Christopher R. Proschko, and brought to you by LifeLong Learning San Marcos.

Waggle Taggle Troubadours

Tuesday, June 4

7:00 pm

Clap your hands and tap your toes with the Waggle Taggle Troubadours’ terrific tunes for all ages. The San Marcos Public Library invites children and families to this free concert on Tuesday, June 4 at 7:00 p.m. featuring Marilisa as the Waggle Taggle Troubadour! 

Fired Up about Reading and Firetruck Craft

Wednesday, June 5

10am – Storytime with firefighters and tour of firetruck

11am – Firetruck craft 

The kids of San Marcos love the San Marcos Fire Department fire fighters and the big red truck!  The next firefighter visit to the San Marcos Public Library will be Wednesday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. Following the firefighter visit, children can create an engaging firetruck craft. The craft is for all ages, but children under 5 should bring an adult to help. Crafts take 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

For Teens and Tweens: Fencing Demonstration

Wednesday, June 5 

3:00 pm

Gary van der Wege presents a swashbuckling demonstration of Olympic sport fencing! 

Ages 6 to 17, no registration required. 

Book Club

June 5 and every 1st Wednesday

1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

This week the library book club will be reading and discussing Lincoln’s Last Trial: The Murder Case that Propelled Him to the Presidency by Dan Abrams. New book club members always welcome.
