AARP Smart Diver

Monday, May 13

1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This course is designed for drivers age 50 and older as a refresher for driving skills and road knowledge. Instruction includes proper use of new technology in cars, techniques for handling turns, and state-specific rules of the road. Cost for textbook is $15 for AARP members, $20 for non-members. Family Movie Night

Monday, May 13

6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Join us for a fun-filled, all-ages movie night as we watch a family friendly movie (rated G) and enjoy free popcorn. In this film, 10-year-old Richard Tyler enters a library to escape a storm, only to be transformed into an animated illustration by a Pagemaster.  He has to work through obstacles from classic books to return to real life. With a “just do it” attitude, Shut Up and Write! is for anyone trying to finish a writing project. No critiques or group share allowed. Teen Maker Club

Explore your creative side in this program that gets you designing and creating. Each month there will be craft, art, and maker projects to explore, or you can create your own design. The library provides all materials for suggested activities, but feel free to bring your own projects.

  

Composting with Ease

6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Composting is nature’s way of recycling. Rather than sending your food scraps and lawn clippings to the landfill, you can turn them into a nutrient-rich fertilizer for your plants, garden, or lawn by using a home composting system. Learn the secrets of recycling organic matter such as leaves or vegetable scraps into the “black gold” soil for your spring gardens. Presented by local expert Robbie Warner.

Adult Spelling Bee Fundraiser

Thursday, May 23

7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Three-person teams will compete for the title of 2019 Spelling Bee Champion Swarm of San Marcos. Teams will have 30 seconds to spell words on a whiteboard, tournament style, for a fast-paced fun time. Register by May 15 at the library. Spectators are welcome, and can play along by buying disqualified teams back in the game!
