[ARCHIVED] Sunshine Kids Camp

Sunshine Camp

The Sunshine Kids Camp celebrated their 35th anniversary and for last 28 years San Marcos has provided local and regional activities for the campers.  The free camp is for children ages 12-18 battling cancer and they arrive from cities all over the United States.

The camp adds quality of life to children with cancer by providing them with exciting, positive group activities, so they may once again do what kids are meant to do…have fun and celebrate life!  Some of the highlights included; tubing the San Marcos River, Sea World, Dick’s Classic Garage, and Schlitterbahn.

The annual camp requires many volunteers to help bring smiles, happiness and sunshine to the lives of about 24 children with the disease.

SMFD volunteers were Battalion Chief Aaron Crawford, Captains Sean Garrison, Michael Orichuela, Aaron Stewart, and Tory Turner, Engineer Kevin Holmes, Firefighters John Craft, Micah Harris, Wesley Keathley, Miles Maynor, Tanner McLean, Billy Mullins, Pablo Nieto, Jake Sedovic, and Retired Captain Jay Horton.
