The City Arbor Day Celebration is on Sunday, November 7, 2021, from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm, at the San Marcos Public Library, 625 E. Hopkins. The tree giveaway is in-person only, first come, first served, and will be held outdoors. Residents will have an opportunity to select from 20 native and adapted tree species, 3- 5-gallon container trees, and some smaller saplings while supplies last.
“We encourage residents to use the tree list to save time by planning ahead,” said Kelly Eby, City of San Marcos Urban Forester. “However, we will have volunteers and information on hand to help you find the right tree for your yard.”
Studies have found that trees do so many great things, however, homes with trees planted in their yard are worth more than properties without any tree cover. Arbor Day Foundation reports that trees have a $31.5 billion dollar impact on home values.
