In 2014, Dewberry Architects were contracted to complete a facilities master plan for the San Marcos Public Library. This document offers a snapshot of the library, where it is heading, and how the library can address its current and future needs. The City of San Marcos is currently served by a 27,000 square foot, single-story library, which opened in January 1994. This master plan recommends a 29,000 square foot expansion and a remodel of the existing facility to provide a 56,000 square foot, single story library facility. The project would include a parking lot expansion and drive-thru book drop. A $14,5000,000 bond election was passed in May 2017 to fund this project.
