NOTICE: Mayor’s Order Prohibits Gatherings Over 10 & Closes Select Facilities Until May 11

All Parks and Recreation programs and events have been suspended through May 11. The Activity Center is closed until further notice. River front parks, playgrounds, the skate park, dog park, public restrooms and water fountains are closed. River front parks include: Rio Vista, City Park, Plaza Park, Veramendi, Bicentennial, Children’s Park, Crook Park, Veteran’s Memorial Park, Dog Beach, Capes Park, Thompson’s Island, Stokes Park, Ramon Lucio Park, and Wildlife Annex/Wilderness Park. San Marcos will continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the State Department of Health Services, the Hays County Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control. Current updates and helpful links may be found at www.sanmarcostx.gov/covid19info.

Sustainability Fair and Native Plant Sale

The San Marcos Discovery Center is having its very first Sustainability Fair on April 6! Come see the different organizations contributing to the sustainability of this area and how you can get involved. In addition, there will be a mini-series of workshops happening throughout the day as well as our celebrated Spring Native Plant Sale. We will start selling at 9 am- 4 pm. Miss Beautiful SMTX and You(th) Can Do It! Pageants - postponed, date TBD

The Miss Beautiful SMTX and You(th) Can Do It! Pageants are being held in conjunction on April 24, 2020 at Hernandez Elementary School. There is a $10 entry fee for youth to participate and a $25 entry fee for adults to participate. SMCISD students do not have to pay an entry fee. Contestants do not have to reside in San Marcos. The public is welcome to come join the fun and support the contestants in their journey.

Youth prizes will be awarded for Queen/King and First, Second, and Third Runner Up in the following categories: Little Miss Beautiful SMTX, Jr. Miss Beautiful SMTX, Little Mr. San Marvelous, and Jr. Mr. San Marvelous. Awards will also be given for Most Expressive and Most Inspirational. “Little” contestants are ages 4‐12. “Junior” contestants are ages 13‐17. Adult prizes will be awarded for Queen/Miss Beautiful SMTX and First, Second, Third Runner Up, Most Expressive, and Most Inspirational for female contestants ages 18 and up. Entry forms may be picked up at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins, and the Parks and Recreation Office, 401 E. Hopkins or can be downloaded here.

Farmer Fred's Garden Spring Carnival

Farmer Fred invites all of his friends out to Plaza Park and City Park for his annual Carnival the Thursday before Easter. This event features a free age-grouped egg hunt, carnival games, prizes & candy, and much more! Check our calendar for more information!

Mother & Son Bowling Night

This event takes place the Friday before Mother's Day at Sunset Bowling Lanes in San Marcos. Mothers/Mother figures and Sons are invited for an evening of bowling and fun! There is a cost associated with this event and pre-registration is required! Visit our calendar for more information.

Party in Your Park

This event takes place every three months and travels to various neighborhood parks each time. Party in Your Park features free family-friendly fun: yard games, music, refreshments and much more!
