Active Older Adult Programs

COVID-19 Information

The San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank you for your patience while we have moved forward with resuming in-person Active Older Adult activities. Programs that have already reopened to in person meetings include: Game Day, Bingo,  Pickleball,  Life Long Learning Classes, Limitless Balance conducted by Limitless Physical Therapy and a new program, Group Game Time.

Additional programs returning in September and October include: new Life Long Learning Classes, Brain Training sponsored by WellMed,  Informational Seminars conducted by Hope Hospice and our Bowling Socials at Sunset Bowling Lanes. We will also be conducting some special events, sponsored by WellMed. They include a free Produce Giveaway in September and Step By Step Painting in October and December!  Make sure to visit our Active Older Adult Special Events Page for information on these great special programs!

Masks at the San Marcos Activity Center and other City facilities are optional. Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms is discouraged from entering a City facility, park, or recreational area

The Activity Center is no longer closed from 1-2 p.m. daily, for cleaning. This has allowed us to return to the originally scheduled times of some of our programs.  The Activity Center remains closed on Thursdays.

All participants in any San Marcos Parks and Recreation Program must agree that they have read and understand the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department Release and Waiver of Liability.  Please click here to view and sign the Release and Waiver of Liability..

For those not ready to attend in-person, indoor Active Older Adult programs, the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is still your go to place for recreation, leisure, education, health, and wellness resources through COVID-19. We are committed to ensuring that our community members have the resources to maintain healthy and meaningful lives while they wait to return to in-person events. Please visit our Active Older Adult Virtual Recreation Page  and our Virtual Recreation Center for numerous activities, classes, tours and adventures for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own home.

Objective

The primary objective of the San Marcos Parks and Recreation Active Older Adult Program is to enhance the quality of life of active, older adults in San Marcos and the surrounding area. Our goal is to promote a healthy, active lifestyle by providing quality informational, educational, physical and social enrichment opportunities.

Additional Information

You may have noticed when registering for classes, many state that they are for ages 60 and above.  This is because the “senior” discount at The San Marcos Activity Center is now available for individuals aged 60 and above. We will be using age 60 when referring to “senior” activities, to avoid any confusion.  Our Active Older Adult programs will be for ages 60 and above unless otherwise noted.

Program Registration

A big part of moving forward means doing things digitally/online such as registering for classes, purchasing Activity Center memberships, and viewing the Activity Guide and Out & About (Senior Newsletter). We need accurate contact information to be able to communicate with you.

If you have registered for a class/program or rented a facility AND you provided us with an email, you already have an account. You need to log in and reset your password here.

If you have an account setup for online registration and know your password, please log in and make sure your contact information (cell phone and email) is correct.

If you do not have an account, please log in and create one here.

If you have any questions regarding your membership, please contact us at 512-393-8280 or by emailing Parks and Recreation.

Newsletter

The Out and About:  Active Older Adult Newsletter will no longer be mailed. It will be available online, by clicking here, and via email.  If you would like to receive the newsletter via email, contact Nick Riali.
