Need help getting those complicated tax forms filled out? The American Association of Retired Persons and the San Marcos Public Library are again co-sponsoring a free income tax assistance program. Volunteer tax counselors are qualified to work on the 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms as well as a number of specialized tax schedules.
Taxpayers who utilize this free service should bring with them a photo ID, social security cards for all dependants, a copy of last year's income tax return, property tax receipt, W-2 forms, statements regarding pensions, annuities, interest, dividends, IRA contributions, self-employment earnings, and any other tax related documents.
E-filing is available and to have your refund deposited directly into your bank account, bring your bank routing number and your account number.
