City Council Deliberates Proposed Budget

The City Council will hold workshops at 6 p.m. on August 11 and August 13 to discuss the proposed municipal budget at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins.

City Manager Rick Menchaca will present the proposed 2009-2010 fiscal year budget and the City Council will discuss the $145.4 million spending program for municipal government. A second budget workshop is scheduled for Thursday, August 13 at 6 p.m. at City Hall to continue the discussion and direction from the City Council.

Other key dates for the budget process include:

• August 13: First public hearing on tax rate at 8 p.m.
• August 18: Second public hearing on tax rate at 8 p.m.
• September 1: Public hearing on the budget at 8 p.m. Adoption of budget and tax rate
• October 1: New budget takes effect
