  1. 60+ Step By Step Painting

    Join us for Step By Step Painting, now sponsored by UnitedHealthcare! Participants aged 60 and above, will be led by an art instructor that will take them step by step through the creation of their painting. All participants will paint the same subject. This is a free event, all supplies for Step by Step Painting will be provided by UnitedHealthcare and San Marcos Parks and Recreation. Step by Step Painting will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Dunbar Recreation Center, located at 801 W. MLK Drive. Space is limited, registration is required. Aging is Cool’s Stay Smart series brings together brain training, physical movements and memory techniques to help you maintain and improve mental functioning. Enjoy fun and challenging classes that will keep you mentally sharp no matter your age. Join us for our next meeting, Wednesday, July 6, from 10-11 AM at the San Marcos Activity Center. Brain Training is a Free quarterly event for ages 60 and above, sponsored by WellMed. Space is limited so registration is required. Unleash your inner Rock Star, or Country Star, at our first ever Silver Singers Karaoke event on October 19, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the San Marcos Activity Center. Whether you’re a natural star on stage or you only sing in the shower, you’ll have great fun singing your favorite songs and enjoying some light refreshments provided by UnitedHealthcare! If you suffer from stage fright and you’re not ready to grab the mic, that’s okay, you’re welcome to join us to listen to the talented singers in the area. Registration is not required. Participants must agree that they have read and understand the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department Release and Waiver of Liability and will have to sign the waiver when attending an event at the Activity Center.

  4. Dance for Adults with Disabilities

  1. Native Plant Sale & Monarch Fest

    Did you know Central Texas is in the heart of a flyway for many migrating species of birds and insects including the monarch butterfly? That means we are lucky enough to witness a diversity of migrating species when the time is right. Local partners will be on site to show visitors the importance of monarch butterflies and other pollinators that can be found in the region. Native plants, including: perennials, grasses, shrubs, trees, and organic vegetables and herbs will also be on sale and and be inspired to build your own butterfly garden and lend a helping hand to pollinators while enjoying native flowers. Prices are by pot size: 4" - $3, 1 gal - $8, and 5 gal - $26. Come see what San Marcos is doing as a city to help pollinators, purchase some native plants, and learn how to get involved and make a difference!
