  1. Art Series: Scratchboard

    September 24, 2020, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Online program via Zoom.

Scratchboard is a form of direct engraving where the artist scratches off dark ink to reveal a white or colored layer beneath. In this series, we will start with a basic introduction to techniques, especially for shading and its uses. From there we will move on to techniques to transfer line drawings from paper to scratchboard, a technique generally used for composition on scratchboard. Then we will cover techniques for tracing from photos and other sources, if you want. From here we will transfer the lines to the scratchboard, and use them as guides for creating our images. We will have a practice piece and then a finished piece by the end of the series of four classes. Presented by Michael Hannon.
