    Hays County saw record-breaking voter turnout during midterm elections in part because more and more citizens are choosing to become deputized voter registrars, who can register eligible voters in the county. However, all deputations will expire December 31, 2018. Become deputized as a voter registrar again, or for the first time, at the San Marcos Public Library.

    We begin the new year examining one of the most admired styles within the history of art: Impressionism. A new six-week course will look into the beginnings of the movement, which was based in France in the late nineteenth century. Linking contemporary events, philosophies, and ideas, Impressionism launched the birth of modernity and the way we see the world. We will study famous Impressionist artists such as Monet, Renoir, Gaugin, Van Gogh, and more. Brought to you by LifeLong Learning San Marcos, and presented by Becky Duval Reese.

    KZSM, San Marcos’ only community radio station, is looking to train new radio hosts! Anyone in the community is invited to attend these free classes, as well as audition for their own radio show. Participants are expected to attend all three dates if the intent is to host your own radio program. You are welcome to come and go if you are simply interested in learning. Registration is required. January 3: Overview of the radio station, functions and procedures, as well as day-to-day operations of radio hosting. January 10: Learn the software for recording, editing, and operating a radio station. January 24: Tweaking the hardware – learn hands-on with a real control board. Then you’ll be ready to for your own show!
