San Marcos Fire Department and San Marcos Police Department presented a check in the amount of $2,783.00 to Travis Elementary School fifth grade students on the morning of April 12, 2019.

SMFD and SMPD learned about a program at Travis Elementary School that would send all fifth-grade students to an overnight field trip at the YMCA Twin Lakes Science and Nature Camp in Cedar Park.

To make sure every student could attend, the school began a fundraising campaign. After receiving countless donations from the public and a final contribution from both SMFD and SMPD with funds raised in partnership with the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, all fifth-grade students will be able to attend the camp.

Both departments were proud to play a part to assure all of the students in the fifth-grade class were able to participate in the summer experience.  Chief Stephens said, "This will give the students an amazing adventure to try new things and make new friends. Where they can be part of something great with lasting memories for each child".

Twin Lakes Science and Nature Camp is a 55-acre county park located in Cedar Park, Texas.
