San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter Reaching Outside City Limits for Feedback

The San Marcos Regional Animals Shelter (SMRAS) will host its second public meeting in Kyle on Wednesday, April 3 in regards to the shelter’s plan to achieve a 90 percent live outcome rate.

In December, San Marcos City Council directed staff to develop a plan to achieve the 90 percent live outcome rate within five years. To help create this plan, a committee was established by city staff and stakeholders at the beginning of 2019 and is tasked with presenting the plan to Council on June 28.

“Our meeting in Kyle will be the very first time we physically move outside city limits to share the work of the committee and to hear what people have to say,” said Assistant Director of Neighborhood Enhancement DerryAnn Krupinsky. “This is really exciting! It’s a great opportunity for those who may not have transportation to San Marcos to still have their voices heard.”

The SMRAS provides shelter services for all of Hays County which includes the City of San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, Wimberley, and Dripping Springs. Those who attend the meeting will hear an update on the plan, an explanation of what committee members are doing, and have the chance to ask questions.

Wednesday’s meeting is at 6 p.m. and will be held inside Kyle City Council Chambers. A third meeting is scheduled at the San Marcos Activity Center on April 25 at 6 p.m.
