The City of San Marcos is hosting a ribbon-cutting and key presentation ceremony on Monday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. at 906 Conway Drive, to mark the completion of the first home rebuilt using CDBG Disaster Recovery funds.
The keys to the home will be presented to Carmen Martinez, a 68-year resident of San Marcos whose home flooded twice during 2015.
The reconstruction was funded as part of a $33,794,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program (CDBG-DR) awarded after the 2015 Memorial Day Flood.
To date, the City has received 75 applications for assistance through the program. The first five reconstructed houses should all be completed by December 31, 2018.
Three additional homes will break ground in the surrounding area in early 2019.
