UPDATE: Saenz was located in Austin and taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. The San Marcos Police Department would like to thank the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, the Austin Police Department, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, Hays County Crime Stoppers, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Rangers for their assistance.k

ORIGINAL RELEASE: San Marcos Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 18-year-old Ray Robert Saenz Jr., a suspect in a homicide that occurred Saturday, September 30, 2023. Saenz may be armed, and investigators consider him dangerous.

At approximately 2 a.m. on September 30, San Marcos Police responded to an apartment complex on Highway 123 for a call that shots had been fired at the complex and a person was deceased. When officers arrived, they found an adult male, identified as 41-year-old Nathaniel Lamart Hudson, deceased in an apartment unit. CPR and other lifesaving measures were conducted by medical personnel but ultimately were ineffective due to the nature of Hudson’s injuries.

Bullet holes were visible in the dining area of the apartment and several shell casings were collected by police, suggesting Hudson was shot multiple times. Information obtained by investigators suggests Hudson and Saenz knew each other prior to the shooting, and that the shooting occurred following an altercation at the apartment complex.

Anyone who may know where Saenz is located is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-824-TIPS or CallCrimeStoppers.com. Individuals can submit a tip anonymously.

San Marcos Police will not be available for interviews. For media inquiries, contact communicationsinfo@sanmarcostx.gov
