A tool is now available that will help City of San Marcos utility customers track the amount of water they’re using. The city reinstated its Water Usage Threshold program in January 2023. The program, which can track water usage on a daily or monthly basis, could help customers conserve water, identify leaks, and keep bills low.
Through the voluntary Water Usage Threshold program, customer can set a daily or monthly water usage threshold and sign up to receive alerts once the thresholds have been reached. The feature was lost following a software upgrade, but staff worked diligently to recover the program for utility customers.
“After a recent update to the Customer Connect portal, we are excited to once again provide our utility customers with this useful feature,” said Director of Finance Jon Locke. “This alert system allows customers to keep track of water usage, which contributes to the combined effort of conserving water in San Marcos and potentially allowing customers to identify leaks sooner.”
Customers interested in participating in the Water Usage Threshold program can sign up through the ‘Service Order’ tab of the Customer Connect portal. Customers are notified by email once water usage reaches the set threshold on a daily or monthly basis. Customers can remove or change usage thresholds at any time.
