According to unofficial results for the November 2022 General Election released by Hays County election officials Tuesday, Nov. 8, Matthew Mendoza and Saul Gonzales have been elected to serve on the San Marcos City Council. Jane Hughson was re-elected as Mayor of San Marcos. Voters also passed Proposition A, an ordinance to eliminate low-level marijuana enforcement.
The Hays County voter turnout for the November 2022 General Election was 52.53%, with 89,493 ballots cast out of 170,350 registered voters in the county.

Jane Hughson 11,101 62.76%
John Thomaides 6,587 37.24%
City Council Place 1:
Matthew Mendoza 8,866 52.07%
Maxfield Baker 8,160 47.93%
City Council Place 2:
Saul Gonzales 12,212 75.27%
Atom Von Arndt 4,013 24.73%
City of San Marcos Proposition A:
For 15,664 81.84%
Against 3,475 18.16%
The Nov. 8 election results will be canvassed, and swearing-in will take place on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 630 E Hopkins St.
