[ARCHIVED] San Marcos Police Investigating Fatal Crash

INVESTIGATION UPDATE

On Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at approximately 4:45 p.m., San Marcos Police responded to a major traffic collision on State Highway 80 near Walmart. San Marcos Fire Department and Hays County EMS also responded to the collision, which involved a Ford F-150 and a motorcycle.

Upon arrival first responders located the motorcyclist, identified as 46-year-old Dylan Grose of San Marcos, with significant injuries. Grose was transported to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in San Marcos where he succumbed to his injuries.

The initial investigation indicates Grose was traveling inbound on State Highway 80 when he was struck by a pickup truck attempting to turn left. The driver of the truck remained on the scene and consented to a blood draw for intoxicants.

During a search of the pickup truck, officers recovered marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver was cited for marijuana possession less than two ounces and was released at the scene pending results of the blood draw.

San Marcos Police continue to investigate the crash. This is the fourth traffic fatality in San Marcos in 2022.
