Nonmembers will be charged the daily use rate of $3.25 for residents and $4.25 for nonresidents. Paddles and balls are available for those who do not have their own.   5. 50+ Duplicate Bridge

    The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation has partnered with the Texas Capital Bridge Association to offer Duplicate Bridge every Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center. The San Marcos club is a member of the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), which has over 167,000 members who play duplicated bridge in 3200 clubs across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Learn everything about the business from someone working in the business - station manager at community radio station KZSM, Gene Randal. He will show you the ropes and give you an insider’s look at a radio station with hands-on experience from the sound board, mics, software, editing, content - everything you need to create and air a radio show of your own! Limit 10. Teens should expect to attend all 3 sessions. Thursday, June 14 and Thursday, June 21 will be held at the San Marcos Library. The third and final session on Thursday, June 28 will meet at the KZSM Studio, 216 N. Guadalupe.

  1. Discovery Camp - Mad Scientist Week

    June 25, 2018, 7:30 AM - June 29, 2018, 5:30 PM @ Dunbar Recreation Center

    Come experience an adventure this summer with the City of San Marcos Discovery Camp! The Parks and Recreation Department is offering 9 themed weeks of exploring, adventure, and discovery for campers ages 5-10 at the Dunbar Recreation Center. Registration for residents is $150/week and begins on April 2. Registration for non-residents is $175/week and begins on April 23. Camp runs from 7:30 AM-5:30 PM, Mon-Fri. Campers will have the chance to be outside, do experiments, build things, get messy, work as a team, develop leadership skills, and have FUN! Lunch is provided by SMCISD. One field trip to various locations, two trips to the San Marcos Discovery Center, and a trip to the Rio Vista pool each week are included in camp fees. Please call 512.393.8400 for more information.     Summer Fun is an 8 week long program (with a one week break between) hosted by the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department for kids ages 7-14 (they can be 6 if they have completed the first grade). The 2 school sites are Bowie Elementary and Travis Elementary. Registration for residents is $32/week and begins on April 2. Registration for non-residents is $50/week and begins on April 23.     The City of San Marcos and the Methodist Healthcare Ministries will host the Babysitter's Training Course on Wednesday, June 27. This course is free to individuals ages 12 and older and will be held from 9:30 AM-3:30 PM at the San Marcos Activity Center. Students will learn about child development, safety, babysitting as a business, meals and snacks, and much more! This is not a Red Cross certified class. There is a limit of 25 participants and they are asked to bring their own lunch. A light breakfast and snacks will be provided. Registration begins May 14 - sign up early!
