On September 11, members of the San Marcos Fire Department and other local first responders are invited to participate in a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Participants will climb 110 flights in full gear, equal to the number of stair flights within the World Trade Center towers. Each 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb participant pays tribute to a FDNY firefighter by climbing or walking the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Participants not only remember the sacrifice of an FDNY brother, but symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through firefighter and community participation we ensure that each of the 343 firefighters is honored and that the world knows that we will never forget.
This year's Hays County First Responders 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022. The last stair climb was held at Texas State's Bobcat Stadium.
The public is invited to come and watch those first responders that promise to “Never Forget.”
