Commemorative Tree Guidelines:
Location & Species - Donors may request a specific park or area, however, the final placement will be at the discretion of the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department. Tree will be approximately an inch and a half in diameter. Selection of tree species will also be at the discretion of the department from the recommended species list. Specific trees may be determined by the selected park site conditions and limitations (e.g. available planting space, water, above and underground utilities, presence of existing species, and future park improvements.) Planting location must be within designated sites where water is available. Once location and species are determined, trees will be planted by a qualified landscaper to city standards and specifications.
Maintenance - The parks department staff will maintain the tree in the same manner as other park trees. Replacement of a commemorative tree is limited to a one-year warranty.
Certificate - Donors will receive a certificate suitable for framing, including the honoree name, donor name, occasion, date, the location of tree, and the tree species that was planted.
