APPLICATIONS FOR CORONAVIRUS RELIEF PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS -  DUE JUNE 6

 

The City of San Marcos is seeking applications from potential recipients of Coronavirus Relief-General Fund Grants for the creation or expansion of programs or projects that assist people who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic or related economic shutdowns.

Applications may be submitted by non-profit organizations, a public housing authority, government agencies, and City departments. Applications will be accepted from May 9, 2021, through June 6, 2021. $640,000 total is available for distribution.

An optional applicant workshop will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 10:00 am. Due to COVID-19, and as long as the State Disaster Declaration is in effect, this will be a virtual meeting. For more information on this virtual workshop, view the Virtual Applicant Workshop below. Se habla español.

Selection Criteria

Recipients will be selected by the City Council based on, but not limited to, the following criteria:

1. Activity Need and Justification: Maximum of 20 Points

2. Impact and Cost-Effectiveness: Maximum of 30 Points

3. Implementation: Maximum of 20 Points

4. Past Performance or up to 3 Letters of Reference: Maximum of 20 Points

5. Preferred Need Categories: Maximum of 10 Points - Applicant will be considered for points in this category if the organization provides: case management, child care, internet support, auto payments, job training, or homelessness prevention.

Applications are now open for the annual Community Development Block Grant Entitlement Program. A total of $823,415 is available to support eligible projects and program administration primarily benefitting low-to-moderate income residents in San Marcos.

To be considered for funding, projects must satisfy a national CDBG program objective and should address one or more of the priority needs designated by the City: affordable housing, public services, or public facilities.

Applications may be submitted by a public or private non-profit agency, a public housing authority, a City of San Marcos department, or other government entity. Applications will be accepted from May 23, 2021, through June 18, 2021 at 5:00pm.

The City will host two virtual workshops on Thursday, May 27. An applicant workshop beginning at 10 a.m. will cover details of the application process, eligibility, and compliance requirements. Attendance is not mandatory for filing an application but is recommended.

A second workshop Thursday, May 27, targeted to members of the public, begins at 6 p.m. and will provide stakeholders with an overview of the CDBG program and the annual application process.

A completed application must be emailed to CDBG  by Friday, June 18, 2021, at 5:00pm. Central Time.
