City of San Marcos Arts and Cultural Funding 2022
APPLICATION WINDOW NOW CLOSED
Applicants will receive emails with updates and instructions related to their grant applications.
Applicants will present their projects to the Arts Commission at two special called Arts Commission workshops:
- Monday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. - San Marcos Activity Center Room 3, 501 E. Hopkins.
- Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. - City Hall Conference Room, 630 E. Hopkins. The presentations will be virtual; to watch online go to https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81775176170?pwd=VHV0ai96OUNzcC9jcGtQcnJMM1p1dz09 Passcode: 71140 OR dial toll free 888.788.0099. Webinar ID: 817 7517 6170
The application itself is now a fillable PDF – the instructions, application form and budget worksheet are now a single fillable document to be emailed, along with other application materials, to the City of San Marcos Arts Coordinator. Save the PDF to your computer before you begin filling it out so you can save the changes. If you have any questions, I’ll walk you through it.
Two separate grants – since Hotel Occupancy Tax funding has more stringent requirements mandated by the state, we are now separating it from grants supplied by the City’s General Fund. Each project application must be for one or the other grant; we are no longer “mixing and matching” funding sources:
- Community Arts Grant – Smaller pool of funding, but no requirement to draw tourism. This grant, supported by City’s General Fund, is available for projects that have artistic and cultural value but may not attract overnight visitors. Examples include youth summer camps and virtual events. Diversity Funding is also available for programs that serve historically under-represented groups or cultures in our community or that celebrate a diverse ethnic and cultural heritage of our community and beyond.
Only non-profit organizations and individual artists are eligible for this program. Beginning next year, the City will no longer consider requests from for-profit companies sponsored by non-profit organizations.
Schedule and application links
The deadline for applications is Monday, Sept. 13 2021 at 5 p.m. We will host two Applicant Information Workshops via Zoom at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 and Tuesday, Aug. 31. Links to these workshops, as well as the new application, are posted below. The workshops are identical, so applicants may choose one or the other to attend.
Contact Arts Coordinator Trey Hatt at firstname.lastname@example.org for any questions about the grants or the application process.
