Adult Pickleball is now under the Athletics Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. It is still very popular in the senior community and a great exercise for seniors so it will continue to be listed on the Active Older Adult programs page. Pickleball is a cross between badminton, tennis and ping-pong. It is played on a badminton-sized court (20ft x 44ft), with wooden paddles, a wiffle ball, and a net that is lowered to 34 inches. Players volley the ball back and forth to try to score on the opposition. Participants must bring their own paddles and ball. The sport was designed to be easy to learn for people of all ages and athletic abilities. In the past 10 years the growth of Pickleball has exploded, primarily in senior communities throughout the United States.
Pickleball is free for San Marcos Activity Center members. Nonmembers will be charged the daily use rate of $6 for adults ages 18 to 60 and $3 for ages 60+. Registration is not required.
The Adult Pickleball Open Play rules and guidelines are subject to change without notice. Prior to participating in a program, all participants must agree that they have read and understand the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department Release and Waiver of Liability.
